2025 Momentum

Momentum

Given everything, focusing on making beautiful things that distract is going to be my coping mechanism moving forward. If you feel this blog does that for you PLEASE share and subscribe if you don’t already. Trying to figure out how to populate FB/Instagram with less of Me and my intellectual property!

Last Summer I was commissioned to create a piece for the Northampton Survival Center’s (food pantry) annual thank you post card set for donors. The theme was Family Dinner. This was sent out to all donors at a certain level in variety pack of 12 postcards. this required some Photo-shoot skills and forced me to focus on a single image for a few weeks-somethign I rarely do but want to do more of.

January I moved back to the Gallery in North Amherst where I was for 2 years prior to my flooded basement last March. My goal here is to change my images every quarter to coincide with the quarterly receptions.

February I was awarded ton of honors for photographs entered in a photo contest with the Anza Borrego Desert Photo Contest. Anza Borrego is a California State Park situated 1/2 way between San Diego and Palm springs.

February I have a show hanging at our local Y. In a high traffic area. Even though there was no opening or publicity other than my own I have gotten alot of positive feedback. I hung the show mid day when the Y was pretty busy and quite a few people chatted me up. alway fun to explain what people are looking at.

March this show with some additions moves to a new venue for a few months!

Ongoing I’m stretching things out a bit and starting to work with toning (with Green Tea!) and multiple exposures. Print above of the curtains blowing is one such example. Here are some more:

Following my bliss…OR Finding the courage to identify myself as an artist!

Process is what its all about…Unlike getting a job where there are externally imposed expectations and duties, I have none of that! sounds fun right? SOoit is good and other days I manage to do alot of other things like laundry, garden, read the newspaper, doom scoll 😦 But then I realize that during those times of doing nothing I am actually filling my mind with ideas of things to try in my studio, things to look up, and adding to my list of influences to acknowledge.

Things I have accomplished: updated my Etsy Shop , where my annual calendars notecards and a few new works on metal can be found-and more is on the way. Updated my WEBSITE on WordPress, which allows me to also create a blog where I can easily update what I am doing, working on and thinking . I left FACEBOOK , take that Zuckerberg, so I hope that this WordPress tool will reach a more focused audience. I am exploring the fun and unpredictable world of cyanotypes and have started working with watercolors.
